Fashion and Design
“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”
Our Fashion and Design program embraces all abilities and is another way for us to engage the community to strive for their best. For us, style, fashion, and designs are ways of communicating with one another and showing our unique, authentic, and individual selves to the world. Our Fashion and Design program, launched this past year, offers opportunities for designers, models, cosmeticians, hair stylists, showgirls, dancers, and others to collaborate, share, grow, and develop personally and professionally. And they do so without words and with "style."
Our first program, "Glitz and Glam Cocktail Party and Fashion Show Fundraiser," was held in our Bronx community at the Eastwood Manor. The event started with guests mingling and a Cocktail Party. The event showcased designers Cheay Rochelle, Renique Thomas, and ONEPIECEWEAR. Bones Jones, of Project Runway fame, was the Master of Ceremony. Twenty-five models walked the "runway" wearing various designs, from everyday clothing to swimsuits and wedding dresses. Twenty models of all abilities participated in the show with an audience of over 100 people. This annual event is part of TPFF's effort to recognize our community's many talents and bring out the best in all of us.
Like all events offered by TPFF, the occasion reflects the inclusiveness and diversity of our community as it connects residents and supporters. It was a celebration of the power of community to overcome challenges of all kinds. Proceeds from this fundraiser mainly supported the Pearl Fraser Scholarship Fund that offers needs-based financial support for students entering college, individuals, and community arts centers.
Watch for information, updates and events about our Fashion and Design program and participate in our community of "style" as a way of expressing individuality.
